Ixobrychus flavicollis  

An early morning stakeout of a waterhole at Sandy Camp Road Wetlands turned up a Black Bittern flying into its day roost deep in some reeds where it is then impossible to find.

Occasionally it has been observed to fly out into a tree and preen itself but sadly not on this occasion.
